The North Staffordshire Oatcake
This sites aim is to promote and encourage the humble yet glorious Oatcake. This is not to be confused with either the Scottish or the Derbyshire versions. The North Staffordshire Oatcake is designed to be eaten with a variety of fillings .Sunday mornings in North Staffs sees many folk out of there beds and queuing for fresh Oatcakes. These are then taken home and served with Bacon, egg, sausage, cheese and also savoury fillings.
On their own Oatcakes are a wonderful source of fibre and also act to lower cholesterol. Unfortunately the times we live in are squeezing the Oatcake shops and the Staffordshire heritage out of existence.
The aim of this site is to promote awareness of the remaining oatcake shops with the Point of Interest files for the most popular Satellite Navigation equipment, files are to be found on our download page.
We need your help also to keep us abreast of the status of all oatcake shops in Staffordshire and hopefully beyond. It is rumoured that one enterprising soul set a shop up in Benidorm but I haven’t had any first hand knowledge.
